Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes! I provide a complimentary consultation so we can discuss your needs, answer questions, and see if we’re a good fit.
Can I hire you for more than one service?
Absolutely. Many families choose combined packages for doula support, birth preparation, and lactation counseling. I can also offer services individually without the labor support packages. Some of those services are a 2-part Spinning Babies class, Lactation Counseling, Infant Massage Instruction Sessions, Lactation Information Class, and a Newborn Care and Developmental Support Class
Do you take insurance?
Some plans cover or reimburse doula or lactation services. Kaiser Southern CA does cover the entire package as well as some MediCal providers, some of which I do contract with. For health care coverage that I am not contracted with but does cover services, I can provide a superbill upon request.
What does a birth doula do?
A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and shortly after birth. I help you understand your options, cope with labor sensations, and create a calm, confident environment.
Will a doula replace my partner?
Not at all. A doula supports both you and your partner. I help your partner feel more confident and involved.
Do you support hospital, birth center, and home births?
Yes. I’m comfortable working in all settings and with all types of care providers.
When do you go “on call”?
I am on call for you 24/7 starting at 38 weeks until your baby arrives.
Do you offer continuous labor support?
Yes. Once active labor begins, I remain with you throughout your birth and stay 2-3 hours afterwards to help you settle in.
What if I need an induction or cesarean birth?
I support all types of births. I provide guidance for inductions, comfort measures during longer labors, and emotional/advocacy support during planned or unplanned cesareans.
How does a doula improve birth outcomes?
Studies show doulas reduce the likelihood of unnecessary interventions, cesareans, and epidural use—while improving satisfaction and breastfeeding success.
What is Spinning Babies®?
Spinning Babies® teaches parents how to balance the body, optimize baby’s position, and make birth smoother and more comfortable.
Is Spinning Babies® safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Everything taught is pregnancy-friendly, gentle, and designed to support physiological birth.
When should I take a Spinning Babies® Parent Class?
Most families attend between 20–37 weeks.
Can this help with breech or posterior babies?
Spinning Babies® techniques may encourage optimal positioning, improve comfort, and support balance. They are not medical treatments but can be helpful tools.
Will I learn labor comfort techniques?
Yes! You’ll learn positions, stretches, and activities that can help labor progress more smoothly and comfortably.
Is this a childbirth education class?
It pairs well with childbirth education but focuses specifically on body balance, anatomy, and fetal positioning—not medical procedures or hospital policies.
What does a lactation counselor do?
I help with latch, milk supply, positioning, pumping, supplementing, bottle-feeding, and breastfeeding challenges.
Do you offer in-home visits?
Yes. I provide in-home or virtual lactation support for your convenience.
What breastfeeding issues can you help with?
Latch pain, slow weight gain, milk supply concerns, engorgement & mastitis prevention, Nipple trauma, nipple refusal, and more…
When should I schedule a lactation visit?
Anytime you have a question! Many families book during pregnancy to prepare and again shortly after birth for hands-on guidance.
Can I customize a package?
Yes—every family’s needs are unique. I’m happy to build a plan that fits your goals.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept standard virtual payment apps i.e. Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, Paypal, check or cash. Accepting Credit and Debit beginning in January 2026. Payment plans available upon request.
